  • Overview

    The Credit Manager is responsible for leading a receivables department for commercial credit and collections. This position supervises 7-10 credit and collection representatives who are responsible for conducting credit investigations and collecting on open receivables. This position will report to the Corporate Controller. 



    • Supervise and coordinate all credit functions including evaluating customer credit worthiness and ensuring assigned accounts are within established credit terms.
    • Gather credit information and financial statements necessary to perform risk analysis on new and existing customers.
    • Interface with sales organization to communicate credit decisions and ensure timely review of new customers.
    • Validate credit limits that support customers’ business needs and minimize bad debt exposure to the company.
    • Enhance, standardize and document company credit policy including the process for customer set-up.
    • Make credit decisions within assigned authority.


    • Oversee and improve performance of an approximately $10M accounts receivable trade portfolio; reduce days sales outstanding and past due balances.
    • Streamline and simplify the collections process to improve collections productivity.
    • Negotiate payment terms and enhance required documentation with customers to ensure transactions are appropriately secured.
    • Resolve collections issues with customers including interfacing as needed with the sales organization.
    • Develop robust metrics and reporting for collection performance.
    • Manage relations with collection agencies.


    • Lead, motivate and develop the credit and collections team.
    • Manage both a local onsite team and remote employees.
    • Develop and implement a credit scoring system and enhance metrics to measure department performance.
    • Streamline and standardize the billing process.
    • Travel occasionally to field locations and customers.


    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related fields.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Credit and Collections.
    • Advanced computer skills particularly with Microsoft Excel.
    • Deep and broad understanding of credit reporting agencies (D&B / Equifax).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage both internal and external relationships.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
